Background

Training session conducted by INFRA

Institute for Rural Advancement (INFRA) is a training centre under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (MRRD) established in 1996 which provides training to the leaders in the field of rural development. At the early stage of establishment, the implementation of the programmes is to support Rural Vision Movement (called Empowerment Vision Movement beginning year 2003).  The targeted groups are the leaders of the community institution and the GDW leaders. It is a formal training approach conducted in a lecture rooms where participants are trained to generate village profile.

Reorganisation of Training Programmes

a) Training Road-map
In the year 2007, INFRA has conducted a review on the training approach adopted to suit the requirement of the targeted group and to ensure that the targeted group receives direct impact from INFRA’s training programmes. Therefore, INFRA has introduced a training plan (training road-map) to targeted group consisting of leaders at the grass root level for them to obtain  series of knowledge and skills.

b) Integrated Action Training Scheme
Training programmes in the field of rural management offered by INFRA began adopting Integrated Action Training Scheme that combines activities such as planning and assessment, conducting of training, preparing Village Action Plan, implementation of Village Action Plan as well as coordinating and monitoring activities. This concept enables INFRA to focus all its resources in conducting training programmes throughout the country in order to get a more effective result and to achieve target.
